Surgery is the term used to describe an operation, which is any systematic action involving the hands of (or instruments in the hands of) a surgeon on the human body to produce a curative or beneficial effect. Surgeons and other medical doctors use many types of surgical instruments, such as: Scissors, forceps, needle holders (hold suture material for "stitching"), biopsy punches, retractors, scalpels (surgical knives) and cauterization instruments (use to cauterize or stop bleeding).
